چکیده
A 73-year-old female developed right facial paralysis of House-Brackmann (H-B) grade III and was diagnosed with Bell's palsy. After three months steroid therapy, she progressive hearing loss, an MRI revealed a tumor in the internal auditory canal. Within few months, nerve palsy recurred, patient treated Gamma Knife radiosurgery. The irradiated region disappeared, but new dysphagia observed, parotid gland detected for first time. Tumors digastric muscle jaw were surgically resected, diagnosis diffuse large B-cell lymphoma made. had invaded cranial nerves brainstem region, did not wish to undergo further medical therapy. This case malignant that started as brainstem, testing possible at early stage prior radiotherapy desirable.

Extracranial Facial Nerve Schwannoma Treated by Hypo-fractionated CyberKnife Radiosurgery
Facial nerve schwannoma is a rare intracranial tumor. Treatment for this benign tumor has been controversial. Here, we report a case of extracranial facial nerve schwannoma treated successfully by hypo-fractionated CyberKnife (Accuray, Sunnyvale, CA) radiosurgery and discuss the efficacy of this treatment. A 34-year-old female noticed a swelling in her right mastoid process. The lesion enlarged...
متن کاملP148: Facial Nerve Paralysis Secondary to Odontogenic Infection
Peripheral facial nerve paralysis is the most common form of motor cranial neuropathy. Several factors can cause Bell’s palsy such as vascular ischemia, intracranial lesions, iatrogenic damage, etc. Treatment relies on diagnosing the causing factor, varying from steroids to surgical techniques. Since there has been but few reports of facial nerve paralysis caused by dental infection, odon...
متن کاملTuberculous Otitis Media Leading to Sequentialib Bilateral Facial Nerve Paralysis
Introduction: Tuberculous otitis media (TOM) is an uncommon, insidious, and frequently misdiagnosed form of tuberculosis (TB). In particular, TOM is usually secondary to direct transmission from adjacent organs, while the primary form has been rarely reported. The main aim of treatment is to start the patient on an antitubercular regime and early surgical intervention to decompress the facial n...
متن کاملResults of End-To-Side Hypoglossal-Facial Nerve Anastomosis in Facial Paralysis after Skull Base Surgery
Introduction: The primary aim of facial reanimation surgery is to restore tone, symmetry, and movement to the paralyzed face. Hypoglossal-facial end-to-side anastomosis provides satisfactory facial reanimation in the irreversible proximal injury of the facial nerve. This study discussed the facial function results of end-to-side anastomosing of hypoglossal nerve to facial nerve when the i...
متن کاملThe extracranial facial nerve: high resolution three-dimensional Fourier transform MR imaging.
PURPOSE To investigate the use of high-resolution three-dimensional Fourier transform gradient-echo MR in evaluation of the extracranial facial nerve. METHODS Nine normal subjects and one clinical patient were scanned. Several imaging parameters, including echo time, field-of-view, and the use of Gd-DTPA, were manipulated to determine the optimal technique. Adequate results were obtained in l...
